Good friends will.

I met my friend Donald through twitter. I don't remember who followed the other first, but we tweeted for a couple of months before finally meeting in person. Through twitter, we got a sense of our shared values and snarky sense of humor. We learned more about each other before we even met that our first lunch date had no awkward moments.

Whenever we get together, we dish about anything and everything. Donald is the liberal brother I wish I had growing up. He keeps things real and there is no B.S. Don't get me wrong, I love my conservative family brothers. But when we talk his openness and passion is inspiring.

I feel like I can talk to him about anything. He doesn't judge, even when I drone on about my self absorbed life. He tells fabulous stories about his young democrat days, sexually maturing, and the crazy life he had in the 1980s.

Donald is also very passionate about community engagement. He supports many causes, and encourages others to do the same. He's nothing short of a class act.

I took him out to dinner to ambush a favor. Of course he said yes to stopping by the house to feed our cat while we're gone. I hope to be able to return the favor soon.

For anyone who thinks twitter is a waste of time, they haven't yet experienced the joy of finding new friends who will listen. And feed your cat.

I'm a lucky girl.
